Narimiya Hiroki for Norton 2011

On the 25th, actor Narimiya Hiroki (27) attended a press event for PC security software 'Norton 2011' in Tokyo. Looking back at filming for the CM where he took on roles as a stalker, swindler and gangster, he comments, "From early morning on, tension was high. It was difficult." Personally, he spends about 3 hours a day on the net working through mails and shopping. So far, he has not encountered cyber viruses, but "Friends have been victims before, and it causes a mental strain. I'll be more careful next time."

Narimiya Hiroki transforms into a Net Criminal!?

Actor Narimiya Hiroki plays the part of cyber criminal "N" in the streets of Shibuya. His images will be splashed across Shibuya in a limited 2-day media blitz on the 23rd and 24th. There are 3 versions where he transforms into a robber, swindler and stalker, declaring "I am the net criminal N, and I'm preparing a cyber crime against all of you. Look forward to the noon of 25th August."


It's a promotion for software Norton 2011 (Symantec). The CMs will be televised for 2 days (60 times per day) from 9am onwards at the intersections outside Shibuya station.

Narimiya Hiroki 10th Anniversary Photobook

On the 3rd, actor Narimiya Hiroki attended a press conference and handshake event for fans at Shibuya's PARCO where he debuted 10 years ago. The event was to commemorate the release of his photobook 'Hiroki Narimiya Anniversary Book 10', which showcases his journey in the entertainment industry through the decade. Interacting with his 2000 fans, he commented, "It's been a distinct Narimiya Hiroki for the past 10 years." The secret to being an actor and involved in various activities? "Well, actually once I rest (reluctantly), I'll start to forget about things! That's how it is with me."

10 years ago, he made his debut at PARCO Theatre which was nearby. "At that time, I had a vision of myself 3, 5, 10 years down the road. I wish I was cool enough to say that, but in reality, back then I felt insecure and uneasy. Right now, being able to stand here is beyond my imagination." In the past, he had thoughts about quitting being an actor, "The director got mad at me and I thought I should just disappear, but then I saw that the posters had been printed... I realized that I was being a coward," he recalled.

Now he's a popular mature actor who gets leading roles in movies and dramas. "At this point, is it good?" he seemed to be wondering himself. Regarding his activities in the future, "I want to laugh, and have fun doing them. I'd like to try producing more entertainment-related projects."

Narimiya Hiroki The Ideal Boyfriend

On the 17th, actor Narimiya Hiroki attended eye make-up and nail care company Koji's campaign launch 'Love In Your Eyes' as its image character. In conjunction with the campaign, a cellphone novel based on the theme of 'close-range love' is produced. Narimiya commented on his own romantic experiences, "I've been jilted so many times. Why? Reasons like I can't meet, or it's just not real." He was frank about how being busy with work has led to disappointments in his personal life.

In the cellphone novel, Narimiya plays the role of an 'Ideal Boyfriend'. He's the sole character as he speaks to the camera. "It felt a bit awkward as it's just from the camera's point of view, and not having lines with someone else was quite unsettling," he said.

Narimiya who's usually 'shy and has stranger anxiety', revealed more about his private life, "Just being meek doesn't work. You have to show all your cards. Tactics? I think I used to be good at those, but it's already in the past." When asked about achieving a certain victory, he said with a wry smile, "I guess you convey your emotions through your eyes. But not staring for too long, just a gaze kind of feeling."

The cellphone movie and novel for the 'Love In Your Eyes' campaign will be available from 21st August onwards.

Narimiya Hiroki Full Disclosure in his Photobook

On the 6th, it was revealed that actor Narimiya Hiroki (27) would be releasing a photobook on July 1st to commemorate his 10th year anniversary debut. The book is at least 3cm thick, with more than 170 pages - about double the number of pages of a normal photobook. It has taken 6 years to put the book together - 'Hiroki Narimiya Anniversary Book "10"' (Kadokawa Group Publishing, 2800 yen) is the end result. It is a collection which reflects on his journey over the past 10 years, hence making it a "very thick" photobook.

Narimiya reassures that the photobook is luxurious both in quantity and quality. The difference is the thickness of this book. Usually, photobooks have about 80 - 90 pages; this one has 170 pages, about double that of a normal one. Because of the high quality of paper used, the book will be at least 3cm thick. It's quite similar to textbooks used by high school students, so it could be termed the 'Narimiya History Textbook'.

Narimiya's past, present and future are in the book. He has always been involved in the project, it contains insights as well as 'hot' photos. There are more than 100 pages in the photo corner, including semi-nude shots, and over 250 off-shot photos taken by his manager.

The book also includes public interviews and private conversations between Narimiya and 10 key persons, including actor Oguri Shun and Shinagawa Hiroshi, director for the movie 'Drop'. Narimiya is satisfied with the completed book, "10 years as an actor, there's still a lot for me to learn, but I'm happy to have reached this milestone. It has given me many chances to go through different experiences."

Narimiya made his debut 10 years ago on 1st July 2000, in a stageplay at Tokyo's Shibuya Parco Theatre. A handshake event to commemorate the sale of his photobook will be held at the Libro Shibuya Store on 3rd July. Tickets for the event will be distributed at the same store on 11th June from 10am onwards.

Narimiya, the Mysterious Monkey

On the 6th, actor Narimiya Hiroki attended the product launch for new chewing gum 'Stride' as its CM character at the Harajuku Quest Hall. The teaser monkey CMs for an unknown product have been on-air, and now it is revealed that the monkey was played by Narimiya in special make-up. Narimiya will be featured in a new CM from the 10th onwards, in conjunction with the commencement of the gum sales. "There are not many chances in life where you can become a monkey ne," Narimiya commented. It took 11 hours of applying special make-up for him to transform into the monkey.
